Md. Ag. Sec. Bartenfelder visits Salisbury

With so much debate over chicken houses, Maryland’s Agricultural Secretary was in Salisbury today and offered his thoughts to local leaders.
Joseph Bartenfelder spoke to Salisbury Chamber of Commerce members and area politicians on his trip.
“We need to have smart growth so that the environment is protected and that the industry is protected. I think we can have new houses built in the right way.” Said Sec. Bartenfelder.
He also spoke also about the current crop season the local economy and the state of agriculture here on the eastern shore.
A farmer himself he admits because of the amount of rain recently this has been the worst strawberry seasons he has seen.
