Mansfield Mans Up In Jags Big Win

The Washington baseball team picked up a nice win early Saturday morning in the Bi-State challenge when they defeated Laurel 10-0 in 5 innings. The win improves the the Jaguars to 5-12, while the Bulldogs fell to 1-10.
Washington wasted little time before going to work. They would work the bases loaded before Jimmy Mansfield would rope a 3 RBI triple off the wall in right for the first scores of the game. The Jags would take a 4-0 lead into the second, as Caleb Walston was also doing his thing on the mound. He limited almost everyone in the ‘Dawgs lineup, besides the bat of Perez Nichols. The sophomore catcher would rake at the plate, finishing 3-3, with 2 triples and a double. There would never be a runner on for him though, and was never able to get someone to move him over after either. The bats for Washington however remained hot throughout the game. Walston would help out his own cause with a 2 RBI double to center in the 2nd as the lead would reach 7-0 after 2. The Jaguars kept coming and were able to stretch the lead to 10-0 after Mansfield scored on a sac fly in the bottom of the 4th. Laurel would step to the plate looking to extend the game in the top of the 5th, and send a 1 hopper of the wall in center. Rounding 3rd, he would get waved home where he was eventually thrown out at the plate to end the game.
Washington returns to work on Monday when they host Pocomoke, while Laurel travels to Polytech on Monday.
