Local Rotary Club’s team up for Memorial Day tribute

A beautiful display of 500 flags on the Westbound side of Rt. 50 in Salisbury is not only aesthetically pleasing, but also raising awareness for a good cause. The Rotary Club of Salisbury teamed up with the Wicomico County Rotary Club and the Salisbury Sunrise Rotary Club to put together the head turning display.
Each flag is available to be sponsored, with proceeds going towards local veteran causes and Rotary community projects. 47ABC spoke with leaders from all three clubs about the flag display. Audrey Orr, who is the president of the Rotary Club of Salisbury says “this was a wonderful opportunity for us to recognize and honor our local heroes those who are in the military those who have made a difference in people’s lives, its just an opportunity to recognize those folks” while referring to why the flags were put up.
The 3 different clubs came together to complete the massive community project, marking the first time in recent memory that they came together for a great cause. President Wesley Cox of the Wicomico County Rotary Club says the type of teamwork coming together to honor our local heroes is what makes living in a place like the Eastern Shore so great.
It’s more than just a display. Alison Pulcher, who is a member of the Salisbury Sunrise Rotary Club says they will hold an event with local community leaders to celebrate Memorial Day and remember those who gave their lives for their country and communities. The event will be held at 2:00 PM.
