Law Enforcement declare “Operation Mop Up” success in Wicomico

Authorities credit teamwork for a successful drug clean-up on the streets of Wicomico County Thursday.
Maryland State Police Salisbury Troopers say they joined forces with Wicomico County Sheriff’s Department and Salisbury Police Department’s to conduct “Operation Mop Up.” Officials say, the initiative was comprised of uniformed personnel conducting saturation patrols in both rural and urban identified “high crime/drug” areas of Wicomico County. The purpose of this initiative was reportedly to identify and arrest drug users, drug dealers and the criminal element in an attempt to curb the growing drug and violent crime activity within the county.
Officials say in total of 35 vehicles were stopped for various traffic violations, which led to a number of arrest including; eight CDS arrests including heroin and prescription pills, two possession with intent to distribute crack cocaine, two civil citations for marijuana under 10 grams, one DUI, five warrants served, and $1,000 seized.
According to troopers, this was a successful initiative due to the quality of personnel assigned from all agencies and teamwork between allied agencies within Wicomico County.
