Jags Roll Past Warriors Onto Regional Title

The Washington baseball team kept their postseason run going Wednesday afternoon, as they pulled off their second straight upset, topping Pocomoke 13-2. The Jags used a balanced attack at the plate, and a strong outing from Jimmy Mansfield on the bump to take control of the game from the 2nd inning on.

The Jags would take an early 1-0 lead before working the bases loaded in the 2nd. Washington would work the bases loaded with 2 out, before getting a 2 RBI  double, followed by a another RBI base knock as they opened up a 5-0 lead headed to the bottom of the 2nd. Pocomoke would finally find their footing there, and open the frame with back to back singles and eventually driving in a run. The runs continued to come in for the Jags though, as Washington would get a RBI single from Caleb Walston to start a run in the 3rd. That was followed by another RBI base knock from Riley Horner. The lead quickly reached 8-1 and could have been worse if not for some defensive moves from Pocomoke. Nolan Rantz would take over on the mound and provided some relief with a couple strike outs, while Jacob Glovier had a huge play at short, stopping a dribbler with the bases loaded and getting a force out at 3rd. But the Warriors could never get their bats going as Mansfield pitched a 3-hitter, 7 strike out gem to help lead his team to the win.

The Jaguars advance to the Regional Championship on Friday to face St. Michaels.
