Habitat for Humanity celebrate National Women’s Build Week

Drills, nails, and the skills of local women were all on display and hard at work on the beginnings of a new house in Salisbury today for National Women’s Build Week.
Kim Nechay, the executive director of the Perdue Foundation says, “I have my hammer. I have my hat on. We’ve been slinging nails. We actually did so much that we’re waiting for an inspector. So we’re really proud.”
The Perdue Foundation partnered with the Wicomico County Habitat for Humanity for the build. Every year during the week leading up to Mother’s Day, Lowe’s selects 300 Habitat chapters across the country for this event and Wicomico was picked.
Molly Hilligoss, the executive director of Habitat for Humanity says, “This is such a great way to give back to the community. The family that’s going to purchase this home is a low income family. It’s a single mom with four children.”
Lowe’s will be donating a $5,000 grant to Wicomico’s Habitat for Humanity Chapter. It will be used to support another local home.
