Four students charged with assault after altercation at WiHi

Four teenagers have been charged, after they apparently were involved in a fight at a local high school, during which several teachers were assaulted.

The Wicomico County Sheriff’s Office says on Friday, at Wicomico High School on Long Avenue, in Salisbury around 1:45 PM, two students started throwing punches at each other, when a teacher stepped in to separate the two. This is when Investigators say two more students jumped in, all while the teacher was still in the middle.

According to the report, three other WiHi faculty members attempted to help break up the altercation, and at some point were all hit. Officials say one of the teachers was even pushed to the ground.

The Sheriff’s Office says once the commotion settled down, the students were each charged on a juvenile referral for assault second degree, disorderly conduct, and disturbing school operations. They were each later released pending formal action by the Department of Juvenile Services. The male students ranged in age from 14 to 17, and are all from Salisbury.
