Eden man charged in Schultheis death, dies in custody

Brent Morgan Taylor Jr., 44, Eden, Md.

An Eden man who was facing charges for the death of Robert Schultheis has died while in custody.

Brent Taylor was being held without bond at the Wicomico County Detention Center. He was charged with Homicide by Motor Vehicle after he allegedly was driving the car that fatally struck Schultheis as he was jogging.

According to his lawyer, David Moore, Taylor passed away after a seven month battle with cancer. This comes after Moore apparently filed a motion for a bail review Tuesday that was to take place on Wednesday. Moore says he was going to ask the judge to reconsider the bail so that Taylor could be moved to hospice. However, Moore says before the hearing took place on Wednesday, Taylor passed away.

According to Moore, Taylor battled lung and liver cancer. He was apparently moved from the detention center to a local hospital about a week ago. He was under guard.
