Eagles Notch Big Win To Resume, Top St. Marks

The Smyrna baseball team picked up their most impressive win of the season as they topped St. Mark’s 4-3. The win improves the Eagles to 9-2 on the season.
Smyrna would have the first opportunity to score as they worked the bases loaded with no out in the bottom of the first, but the Spartans would be able to work their way out of the jam. Jeremy Carrow would get a strike out, then short fly out to right, before a ground out would end the threat. Then in the 3rd, the Eagles would take the lead after again working the bases loaded with no out. Thomas Penuel would hit a RBI single to left, followed by back to back sac flys by Nolan Henderson and Ryan Seymour, and then finally a RBI single from Dylan Snow. The Spartans would answer with 3 straight runs in the bottom of the next frame, but the Eagles would then work out of a bases loaded jam without anymore damage being done. Then John Barkley would be able to close the door for the win for Smyrna.
Smyrna returns to work on Tuesday when they travel to Lake Forest.
