DSP investigating more bomb threat calls placed to area schools

State Police say for the second time in a week, they’re investigating a series of bomb threats at area schools.

Delaware State Police say between 10:15 and 10:25 AM, two Schools in New Castle County, Redding Middle School in Middletown, and Wilmington Manor Elementary School in New Castle, and one school in Sussex County, Shields Elementary School in Lewes, received calls saying that there was a bomb in the building.

All three calls were apparently computer generated, and the two New Castle County schools were male voices. Each school was evacuated after the call, and searched by Authorities who say they found nothing out of the ordinary, before the buildings returned to regular operations.

Delaware State Police say they are continuing to investigate the incidents, and that it is currently unknown if these bomb threats are related to the series of bomb threats which have occurred in February within the state, or to the threats called in to area schools on May 23.

Police are asking anyone with any information in reference to any of the bomb threats, is asked to contact Troop 2 Youth Aid Division at 302-834-2620, Troop 3 Youth Aid Division at 302-697-4454, or Troop 4 Youth Aid Division at 302-856-5850. Tips can also be called into Delaware Crime Stoppers at 1-800-TIP-3333, or by sending an anonymous tip by text to 274637 (CRIMES) using the keyword “DSP.”

State Police say that the Dover Police Department is investigating a fourth call that was made to Central Middle School.
