Dover traffic stop leads to drug charges for one

A traffic stop in Dover, leads one man to be charged with several drug offenses.
Dover Police say on Wednesday, just before 9:30 PM, Officers with the Dover Police Department Street Crimes Unit, with help from Delaware Probation and Parole, stopped a vehicle on East Loockerman Street at Federal Street, for an equipment violation.
During the stop, Police say Officers smelled marijuana, prompting a search of the car, where they found .6 grams of marijuana, Hydrocodone pills, and .9 grams of crack cocaine. The driver, 33-year-old Courtney Benson, of Dover, was taken into custody without incident. During his arrest, Police say they found 5.6 grams of crack cocaine hidden on his body.
He was then charged with possession with intent to deliver cocaine, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of marijuana, possession of cocaine – tier 1 quantity, possession with intent to deliver controlled substance, and traffic violations. Benson was later released on a $12,050 unsecured bond.
