Comeback Clips! Bennett Shocks Decatur To Advance

James M. Bennett finished their regular season with a convincing 13-3 win over Stephen Decatur.
But the Clippers ran into a different Seahawks team on Saturday.
Decatur jumped out on Bennett to an early 5-0 lead by the end of the 3rd, but the Clippers would find their footing and battle back for a dramatic 6-5 win. The Clippers now advance to face top seeded Northeast on Monday.
The Seahawks had revenge on their mind as they took the field, and their play showed it. Erin Smith would lead it off with a double, and then get driven in off a RBI single from Sam Kefaurer. She wouldn’t be on base for very long as Lexi Black would turn on a pitch for a 2 run shot to give the road team a 3-0 lead. The Seahawks would then manufacture a couple runs in the second off a walk and a single as both Hillary Jarman and Smith would make it in.
Bennett had seen enough. Fallon Harvill would settle in on the mound and began to work her way through the Seahawks line up. Still, the bats would remain quiet for the home team til the 4th. Cheyenne Harvill would reach on a error, and that gave the Clippers the momentum they needed. Anna Malone would get an RBI single to get the home team on the board. The offense then picked up in the 5th, as the Clippers would drive in 2 more runs, including a RBI single to center by Emma Chandler. The biggest hit of the game though came in the 6th. Two errors would get runners on 1st and 2nd with no out, and then Briana Taylor would send a shot down the 3rd base line that found the left field fence for a 2 RBI triple to tie the game up. Brynn Roman then hit a go-ahead RBI fielders choice to give Bennett the lead for good.
