Cambridge man held on $500K bond for drug and weapons charges

A Cambridge man is behind bars on a half million dollar bond, after he was reportedly found with drugs during a traffic stop.
Cambridge Police say on Thursday, Officers stopped a vehicle on Washington Street at Maces Lane, for a traffic violation. During the stop, Officers say they spoke with the driver, 28-year-old Sean Purnell Jr., and smelled marijuana in the vehicle.
Officers then searched the car, and say they found approximately 454 grams of suspected marijuana, along with a stolen handgun, and drug paraphernalia which included scales.
According to the report, Officers then attempted to arrest Purnell, but he resisted, and tried to fight the Officers before eventually being successfully taken into custody.
After his arrest, Purnell was charged with possession with intent to distribute marijuana, second degree assault on officers, resisting arrest, and numerous handgun charges. He is now being held in the Dorchester County Detention Center, on a $500,000 bond.
