Cambridge city council approves grant to restore historic High St.

City Council members in Cambridge have voted unanimously to approve a grant application, aimed at restoring historic High Street downtown.
City officials tell 47 ABC the 300 block of High Street is in need of repairs to its infrastructure, pavement, and sidewalks that will cost approximately $685,000. In order to do that the town will needed to apply for a state grant, which now they have moved forward to do so.
Frank Cooke, the Third Ward Commissioner for the city of Cambridge says, “This is one of the most important projects that the city is trying to accomplish. It’s now at the point of a crisis. We are very concerned about the underlying infrastructure. Those sewer pipes, water pipes, gas pipes, that service, a large part of the area.”
Now that it is approved, the application will then go to the state level.
