American Airlines donates 300K in honor retiring Piedmont CEO

Three organizations have received big checks from American Airlines in honor of Piedmont Airlines’ current CEO Steve Farrow retiring at the end of May.

Coastal Hospice, the Maryland Food Bank of the Eastern Shore and St. Baldrick’s Foundation have received 100,000 dollars each.

Farrow has served as CEO of Piedmont Airlines, whose parent company is American Airlines, for about ten years. He tells 47ABC he chose Coastal Hospice and the Food Bank, because he is an admirer of both of their works; however, there was a personal connection to the California-based St. Baldrick’s Foundation.

“Our granddaughter had cancer when she was about two years old and so we have been very big supporters of more funding for pediatric cancer research, so that’s why I picked those three,” he explains.

Farrow is set to retire Tuesday, May 31. He tells 47 ABC he plans to stay on Delmarva and has plans to travel more often.

Overall, he has been with Piedmont Airlines for just over 30 years.
