Wicomico County seeks minor league team to call civic center home

Wicomico County Executive Bob Culver says recent changes to the Wicomico County Youth and Civic Center are made to accommodate a minor league sports team.  Executive Culver tells 47ABC that the county plans to obtain its liquor license within the next month.

While it will take time for the seating to be finished and alcohol to be sold, Culver says it’s an all in effort to make the Civic Center more appealing for a minor league sports team.  He says “we have feelers out for hockey teams – yes – we do – we haven’t gotten any responses back yet but we are going to try our best to get a minor league hockey team in here.”

Culver tells 47ABC the civic center could be selling alcohol within the next few months.
