UPDATE: Victim identified in Delmar fatal crash

Troopers in Delaware say, they are investigating a single car crash in Delmar, that claimed the life of a Laurel man.

According to Delaware State Police, a 37-year-old William Tressler, of Laurel was driving on Providence Church Road, just north of Pine Branch Road, just after 10 PM Monday. That’s when troopers say, Tressler lost control of the car as he went into a left curve, and drove off the roadway.

The vehicle then hit a driveway culvert, causing it to fly in the air, then hit a ditch. The car reportedly continued north, and hit a tree, causing it to stop. Shortly after, officials say Tressler was pulled from the car, as it became engulfed in flames.

Tressler was reportedly the only person in the car. Authorities say, he was taken to Peninsula Regional Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.

Delaware State Police say they are continuing their investigation into this incident. Investigators say, it is unknown if alcohol or drugs were a factor in this case. Providence Church Road was reportedly closed for about three and a half hours, while the crash was investigated and cleared.
