UPDATE: Pocomoke to host re-vote for municipal elections

The city of Pocomoke says results from Tuesday’s municipal elections have not yet been released, and will be determined with a modified re-vote for those who voted in the initial election.

The delay is apparently caused by a discrepancy in the number of votes counted. City mayor Bruce Morrison tells 47 ABC 132 voters took to the polls Tuesday, to choose two city council members in districts one and two. However, only 127 votes showed up. Morrison says he believes the discrepancy could be voter error.

In District 1, incumbent George Tasker was taking on Shelia Nelson.

No winner has been announced yet, but Morrison says the winner in the District 1 race should have won by 15 votes, but only won by 10. With regards to the re-vote, Morrison told 47 ABC, “we’re going to send absentee ballots to those 132 and we’re going to give them a timeline of probably four weeks to get those back in again and hopefully we can get the results solved out of this,”

In District 2, incumbent Diane Downing ran unopposed.
