UPDATE: Authorities exploring all avenues in murder investigation

As of Monday night, officials say no suspects or motive have been discovered by police in the death of 24-year-old Salisbury man, Irvonte Jones. However, authorities tell 47 ABC that detectives have been working around the clock, and exploring all avenues to try and find the killer, or killers, responsible for the Sunday night homicide.
According to Maryland State Police spokesperson Elena Russo, sometime before 10 pm Sunday night Irvonte Jones was shot inside of a home belonging to his girlfriend, who has not yet been named. Russo said currently it is unclear how the killer(s) gained entry to the house.
What has been established Russo said, is that Jones’s girlfriend returned home to find him unresponsive on a bedroom floor, prompting her to call 911.
“She had left the home for a short amount of time and then came back and found her boyfriend suffered multiple gunshot wounds, laying on the floor,” Russo said.
Jones, who was a rapper that went by names such as “Slim Jones”, and another alias, “Headshot”, released a music video on Youtube less than two weeks ago. In the video, Jones discusses drugs and is seen holding weapons. Russo couldn’t confirm whether they were using that to help find suspects, but did say they are monitoring social media.
Russo added that right now, they are not ruling anything out as a potential lead.
“We’re not sure if this (killing) was gang related or not, but the gang enforcement (unit) did show up to assist,” Russo said. “As you know, Irvonte is not a stranger to the police, and at this point we’re looking at any kind of evidence including witness information that may be relevance to this case.”
As the investigation continues, friends of Jones have expressed their condolences online, saying things such as “RIP Pop” and “RIP Headshot” on Twitter and Facebook. Monday, a balloon release was also held at Doverdale Park in his honor.
Karen Timmons, who lives five doors down from the house where Jones was found said Monday that for the neighborhood, this is out of the norm.
“People just mind their own business, I mean neighbors will be out in the yard and talk, but mostly everybody works,” Timmons said.
Police are asking for the public’s help with this investigation. If you know something, they are asking people to call the Crime Solvers anonymous hotline at 410-548-1776.
