Tuition hikes approved in Maryland

College tuition hikes are coming for those who attend Maryland state schools. Friday the university system of maryland board of regents voted to increase tuition for higher education institutions by two percent, as outlined in Gov. Larry Hogan’s budget.

Officials said the increase would have been around three percent, but Hogan decided to fund one percent of the state’s tuition fees in the budget.

The state is expected to make an additional $26 million dollars off of tuition and revenue in 2017 compared to this year.
