Toddler airlifted to Johns Hopkins following lawn mower incident in Queen Anne’s Co.

A toddler is fighting for their life, after their foot was amputated a lawn mower incident in Queen Anne’s County.
The Office of the Sheriff for Queen Anne’s County say around 11:45 AM, emergency personnel was to Fairview Farm Lane, in Centreville, for an unknown emergency involving a child, but were quickly re-routed to the Centreville Police Department parking lot. The Sheriff’s Office says the emergency was for a three-year-old child with a complete amputated foot from a lawn mower incident.
According to the report, the child left the house, and ran towards their father on the mower, but the father didn’t see the toddler, and made a turn, during which the child was run over. With such a traumatic injury, Officials say the child was in life threatening condition with a large blood loss. The Sheriff’s Office says the initial actions taken at the scene by Centreville Police Department Officers, the Sheriff’s Office, and Goodwill Fire Company and Paramedics likely have saved the child’s life.
The child was then taken to a field near the United Methodist Church, and airlifted to Johns Hopkins in Baltimore by Maryland State Police Aviation. QA Department of Emergency Services says they received word from Johns Hopkins that “there is no doubt that the application of that tourniquet absolutely saved the child’s life today”.
The Sheriff’s Office credited all personnel involved for an excellent job, from the Dispatchers, Law Enforcement, Fire Department, EMS to MSP Aviation. Investigation of the incident is reportedly being handled by the Sheriff’s Criminal Investigation Unit.
