SU Softball Sweeps Mary Washington

The Salisbury University softball team picked up a double header sweep Saturday over Mary Washington, 12-1, and 10-1. The pair of wins improves the Sea Gulls to 29-4 on the year.

Salisbury University would jump out to a quick lead in game 1, plating a pair of unearned runs. The lead would the balloon to 10 after the 2nd, after the Gulls brought 8 more across, highlighted by a 3 RBI double from Katie Sebbane. The lead was more than enough for Annah Brittingham who would pitch 5 strong innings in the win.

The teams went right back at it shortly later on that afternoon in game two. The Sea Gulls again jumped out to a quick lead, plating 5 in the 1st, before tacking on more in the 2nd. Paige Knussman would rope a RBI triple off the wall in right to get the rally started there. Then in the 3rd, Caitlin Lake would blast a RBI triple to right as well. The lead would hold til the 4th, where SU blew the game wide open after Molly Simpson got ahold of one, and sent it deep to center for a solo blast. The pitching would close it out for the win.

SU returns to action on Sunday when they travel to Frostburg.
