Streak Lives On As Colonels Rally To Top CSD

The Colonel Richardson baseball team continues to find ways to win ball games, as they mounted a furious comeback Monday afternoon to defeat Cambridge SD 12-6. The win improves the Colonels to 12-0, while they loss drops the Vikings to 4-7.

The teams would be in a battle early on as the Colonels would take a slight edge. Jake Zebron would smash his first home run of his high school career to left to give the home team a 3-1 lead. But the Vikings would have the answer in the bottom of the top of the 4th. They would plate 4 runs thanks to a couple errors and a timely 2 RBI single to right from Josh Townsend. The momentum was in favor of CSD, but the Colonels fired right back. They would get 5 runs of their own in the bottom of the 5th, after Shawn Bowens started it off with a single. Bowens would later score off a wild pitch, followed by a RBI single from Zebron. Dylan Nepert then ripped a 2 RBI single to right to put CR back out in front. The lead would be cut to 1 after a RBI double for CSD. But the flood gates opened in the 6th for CR, as they would add 5 more runs after a couple fielding mistakes from CSD would spark the rally. Jaret Bennett would then rope a 2 RBI double down the 3rd base line to put the game away.

Colonel Richardson returns to work on Tuesday when they travel to Queen Anne’s, while Cambridge SD host Saint Michaels on Tuesday.
