Sharptown man arrested on assault charges

Authorities say they have charged a Sharptown man, after he assaulted his girlfriend.
According to the Wicomico County Sheriff Department, Deputies responded to a home on Water Street in Sharptown, for a reported domestic related altercation on Sunday.
Officials say upon arrival, the Deputy met with an upset and crying woman, who said that she had been assaulted by her boyfriend, 33-year-old, Wayne Messick, during an argument.
Deputies say Messick grabbed her arm, and also grabbed her around the neck, before the situation apparently escalated even further. Messick allegedly pushed the victim into furniture, and even reportedly pushed the victim out of the house, causing her to fall on the back deck of the home.
During further investigation, the Deputy says they observed signs of injury on the victim, and placed Messick under arrest.
Messick is now facing a second degree assault charge, and is being held at the Wicomico County Detention Center on a $15,000 bond.
