Pocomoke man charged after reportedly firing revolver near land surveyors

Larry Francis Ward, of Pocomoke, Md.

A Pocomoke man is facing charges, after Investigators say he pulled a gun on two people who knocked on his door.

The Worcester County Bureau of Investigation says on Monday, two land surveyors knocked on Larry Ward’s front door, of his Pocomoke home. The surveyors apparently were asking to use a road on Ward’s property, as a more direct access route to a piece of wooded property adjacent to Ward’s.

When Ward answered the door, Police say he was armed with a revolver, which he pointed at one of the surveyor’s heads, before yelling at them to get off his property. The two surveyors then apparently got into their vehicle, and drove off Ward’s property, during which they say Ward fired two shots into the air. The surveyors then reportedly contacted the Worcester County Sheriff’s Office, who then went to Ward’s home.

The Sheriff’s Office says during the visit, Ward was uncooperative with the Deputies, and was placed under arrest, before searching the property. Investigators say they found a revolver with two fired casings, recovered from the area by Wards front door. Investigators say they were on scene with K-9 teams, but didn’t find anything. No drug charges have been filed.

Ward was then charged with assault 1st degree and reckless endangerment, and released on a $50,000 unsecured bond.
