No injuries after sinkhole opens in Lewes driveway

A Connecticut man is apparently okay, after driving into a sinkhole that had opened in a Lewes driveway.

Delaware State Police say around 11:00 AM on Thursday, a 30-year-old man was driving out of a private driveway on Plantations Road, in Lewes.

According to the report, the man was pulling out in his 2016 Subaru Outback, into what looked like water in the roadway, but as he arrived at the end of the driveway, the vehicle was enveloped into a large sinkhole.

Police say the sinkhole was created when utility crews in the area damaged a water main, while drilling. Police say the driver was uninjured in the incident.
