Local business joins county’s efforts to help animals after puppy mill bust

Somerset and Worcester Counties have stepped in and offered to shelter some of the dogs from the puppy mill bust in Wicomico County. However, the Wicomico County Humane Society is still in need of materials such as wet dog food, puppy pads, and cleaning supplies. One local Salisbury business is hoping to lead by example.
Cathy’s Pet Salon has donated $100 to the Humane Society of Wicomico County, but are challenging local businesses to do the same. The pet salon also set up a pet drive so people can drop off any materials the humane society needs.
Christina Thornhill, a pet stylist at Cathy’s Pet Salon says that having each dog checked out is the first step, but there is still more work that comes afterwards.
“Some of the things we have to worry about once all these animals are being treated by the veterinarians, the groomers van then get involved and start clipping them down for them because there might things like missing ears, maggots, and everything else, and dead tales,” says Thornhill.
The salon is also accepting monetary donations and they say they will be dropping them off at the humane society.
