Lewes library construction rolls along

Lewes Mayor Ted Becker says excavations are taking place to create the Adams Street extension which will connect the old and new libraries.

We’re told aside from that, crews are grading what will be the library’s parking lot. Work has also begun on the inside – including installation of ceiling tiles and flooring.

“It will be one of the greenest buildings in Sussex County. It has LED lighting throughout and it has a solar system which we believe will generate enough electricity that it will actually power the building and have some available to feed back into the grid of the city.” Said Becker.

We’re told the library is expected to be fully up and running by mid-June and may help give the city a power boost.
