“Know Your Rights” seminar held in Salisbury

A “Know Your Rights” seminar was held in Salisbury Thursday to educate people about their rights when interacting with law enforcement. Salisbury University students held the seminar at the Wicomico County Library, and they went over rights when being pulled over, to having police at your home, and even filming your interactions.
A short movie was shown, followed by a discussion with a criminal defense lawyer. Mallory Bare and Tony Wilson were two of the presenters, and they told 47ABC “when you’re outside you don’t technically have to have identification things like that, we had no idea we thought you automatically had to show everything on you at all times. And a lot of people actually don’t know that you don’t need to have certain things or do certain things.” They said they wanted to educate the people because interacting with law enforcement can be an intimidating experience.
