House fire in Lincoln ruled accidental

A Sunday afternoon house fire in Lincoln, has been ruled as accidental.

The Delaware State Fire Marshal’s Office says the fire was reported by neighbors of the 1st Street home, around 12:00 PM on April 24. The Carlisle Fire Company responded and, apparently arrived with heavy smoke coming from the single family dwelling. The house was apparently located off Brick Granary Road, in Sussex County.

According to the report, Houston, Ellendale, and Slaughter Beach Fire Companies responded as well, and had the flames under control, just after 1:00 PM.

Investigators say they figured out that the fire was accidental in nature, and was caused by an electrical failure in the fixed branch circuitry. Officials say the homeowners were not at the house when the fire started. No injuries were reported. Damages are apparently estimated at $35,000.
