Home therapies nurse prepares for Salisbury Kidney Walk

There’s a little more than two weeks until the Salisbury Kidney Walk. In an effort to encourage the community to come out, 47 ABC has been chatting with folks already preparing to make the trek.
We met Jessica Potts, a local home therapies nurse on Thursday. She works with patients suffering from kidney disease.
This year will be her third time doing the walk. Her team is called the Dialysis Dudes and Diva’s. 26 million American adults have Chronic Kidney Disease and millions of others are at an increased risk.
Potts says early detection can help prevent it. She explained to 47 ABC that there are a lot of misconceptions about the disease.
Potts continues, “That it’s the end of the world. I mean dialysis is one option, but kidney transplant is a big thing. The Kidney Foundation does a great job with that.”
The Salisbury Kidney Walk is May fifteenth at Winter Place Park. Click here for registration information.
