Hogan assesses lingering Sandy damage

As part of Gov. Larry Hogan’s tour of the Eastern Shore,the governor stopped by Assateague Island state park Friday to survey the damage still lingering from Hurricane Sandy.
The governor spoke to a small crowd on the national park side of the island, before Hogan and his group took ATV’s to tour the state park.
47 ABC was able to speak with Maryland Secretary of the Environment Benjamin Grumbles, about how they plan to combat the erosion the island has faced in recent years.
“It takes a team effort working with the federal government, like the army core of engineers, local contractors, state agencies and citizens to shore up the natural line of defense that this precious barrier island is,” Grumbles said.
Grumbles said a portion of Assateague Island’s shore was eroded during Hurricane Sandy.
