History behind “National Beer Day”

Happy National Beer Day! While many of you will probably celebrate the day with your favorite brew, what you may not know is the reasoning behind the day itself. On this day back in 1933, beer became legal once again in the United States.
After being prohibited for about 13 years, to help fight crime and sanitation, President Franklin Roosevelt signed the Cullen-Harrison Act which allowed the sale and consumption of beer once again.
47 ABC spoke with Eric Camper, head brewer of Tall Tales Brewery, and over the years his love for brewing beer has grown. Camper tells 47 ABC, “I think everybody loves to drink and have a good time. Craft beer is becoming more and more of the norm if you will for younger generation and the older generation to enjoy craft beer because there’s so many aspects you can pair it with food.”
Camper also adds that the Eastern Shore is great place for experiencing different beers as there are about 22 breweries from Cambridge all the way down to Ocean City.
