Gov. Markell signs Senate bill creating a Drug Overdose Commission

Senate Bill 147 says the commission will review child deaths and the deaths of domestic violence victims.

The Commission will also examine the facts and circumstances of deaths resulting from prescription overdoses.

After that the commission will make recommendations to the state based on those examinations as to how to prevent future overdose deaths.

Governor Markell says there are way too many people dying of overdoses in the first state.

“This particular bill sets up a mechanism to study each of these deaths and to minimize the number of them,” says Governor Jack Markell.
