Filling empty bowls in the fight to end hunger

The Rehoboth Sunrise Rotary Club is holding its inaugural Empty Bowls event Sunday in an effort to assist in the fight to end hunger.
On Monday, Organizers told 47abc that over 400 bowls were sold and thousands of dollars were raised at the event.
The “Empty Bowls Project” is an international grassroots effort to raise both money and awareness in the fight to end hunger.
Organizers explained that a bowl could be purchased at the event for $25 and filled with soup, bread, and then refilled with ice cream.
There were over 30 participating potters that made over 700 unique soup bowls from Rehoboth Art League’s Open Pottery Studio as well as School posters and potters from the LSD area.
A Chinese auction was also held, including rounds of golf from top area golf courses, a week in a Williamsburg condo, a weekend in Lost River West Virginia, a birthday party at She’ll We Bounce, and over 35 additional items.
There was even featured music from the Camp Rehoboth Chorus, Cape Henelopen Jazz Quartet, Won by one and piano by Olivia.
The event was held at the Cape Henlopen High School cafeteria Sunday evening.
