Family “heartbroken” following body identification

Dontray Hendricks

The loved ones of Dontray Hendricks were walking along the pier at Port Mahon in Dover on Thursday. They were remembering the life of the 24-year-old. They say his body was found sitting up right, with no one around on Wednesday.

The Delaware State Police Homicide Unit responded to the scene. Detectives were seen back again on Thursday looking for more clues.

Authorities tell 47 ABC they aren’t releasing any details about Hendricks’ injuries. Family members who asked not to speak on camera say Hendricks was a good guy, Philadelphia Eagles fan, played basketball, and was a father of two.

A status posted on Facebook Wednesday night read, “I don’t know what to tell our son. I’m just glad to see you rested in Port Mahon, your favorite place to be.” The status went on to say Hendricks will truly be missed.

47 ABC spoke with Dontray Hendricks’ uncle and cousin. They say the news of his death has left their family heart broken.

Delaware State Police are still waiting for the results of Hendricks’ autopsy to determine an official cause of death.
