Entrepreneur competition has first ever back to back winner

Friday at Salisbury University, the 30th annual Bernstein Entrepreneurship Competition took place.  For the first time in its history, there was a back to back winner.  Jenna DeLetto, a senior at Salisbury University, won the grand prize of $15,000 for her business 5 POP Sports.  Her business uses technology on a football that alerts the carrier with an audible ping when somebody is carrying the ball correctly.

It works by identifying the five points of pressure (POP) that should be used when carrying a football properly.  The fingers, palm, forearm, bicep, and torso are the parts of the body that are utilized when safely carrying the football.  The ball pings when the five points are utilized, and again when they are not, which is when the ball carrier is vulnerable to fumble.

The Salisbury University senior tells 47ABC although she had a target on her back for winning last year, it gave her more motivation to do even better this year, saying “I think in any business you can never become complacent and that’s the reason I did this competition today. I wasn’t satisfied with just winging and being happy with that. I wanted to take it to the next level and I think I did that”.
