Easton PD warn residence of multiple car thefts

Easton Police Department announced on Thursday,  they have noticed an increase in thefts from cars especially over the last few days.

Authorities say overall,  about sixteen cars have fell victim to theft incidents.

According to records, during almost ever occasion, vehicles were left unlocked, and majority of the crimes happened overnight.

Authorities say if items were not removed, cars were ransacked. Items being stolen include money from wallets/purses, pocket knives, electronics and sporting equipment.

Officers are now warning those in the area, to be mindful that anyone is a target, and ask residence to follow a few of their reminders.

By following these suggestions, you may prevent yourself from becoming a victim:

· Never leave valuables exposed in plain view

·Always lock your vehicle’s doors.

·As an added measure, lock glove boxes and center consoles when concealing valuables inside them.

·Remember that just because you know that a certain bag, briefcase, or purse doesn’t contain anything valuable, the common criminal will not. Remove these items too, to prevent unnecessary damage to your vehicle because a criminal thought there might be something valuable inside it.

·If possible, park in areas well lit.

·Pay attention to any suspicious noises or activity. If something sounds or appears suspicious, investigate or contact the police department. However, we (the police department) do not recommended that you confront persons suspected in committing crimes.

Authorities say these thefts have occurred all throughout the town, and include the following street names at main targets:

  • 400 block of S. Washington St
  • Windmill St.
  • Winton Ave.
  • Hemlock Lane.
  • Bay St.
  • Old Centreville Rd.
  • Prospect Ave. Fort Stokes Ln.
  • 200 block of S. Aroura St.
  • East Ave
