DSP: Man dies in crash after fleeing stop

Delaware State Police say they are still investigating a Friday night crash that left a 35-year-old Milford man dead.

We’re told around 11:30 p.m. Lemar Campbell was stopped by Milford Police on S. Walnut Street. As officers approached his 2002 GMC Envoy, Campbell allegedly fled southbound, leaving Milford town limits.

Police say as Campbell went around a slight right hand curve, he lost control of his vehicle, heading off of the roadway, hitting three trees before overturning.

Authorities say Campbell was not properly restrained during the crash and was pronounced dead at the scene. Police say alcohol is being considered as a factor in the crash.

We’re told two male passengers were transported to Milford Memorial where they were treated and released.
