Demonstrators clash outside of Trump rally

Whether people were for Trump, or against Trump, both sides were heard loud and clear at Stephen Decatur High School in Berlin Wednesday evening. The Republican front-runner came to the Eastern Shore, and it certainly wasn’t without controversy.
Police formed a dividing line down the middle of the crowd – one pro-Trump, the other anti-Trump. Each side ensuring their voice is heard. Those against Trump held signs that read “Love Trumps Hate” and “Build bridges not walls”. Those for Trump, decked out in gear supporting their candidate.
Despite all the commotion, it did remain peaceful. One person protesting Trump’s visit told 47ABC “we’re not trying to tell anybody that they’re wrong – we’re mostly trying to be informative for people. We don’t want anyone mad at us for standing out here and being peaceful.”
A Trump supporter says “I am here protesting the protestors because I knew I could not get in the auditorium – but I want to be here – I want Donald to see that we have traveled this distance because we love the man – we think he is wonderful”.
47ABC caught up with some people who are admittedly against Trump, but went into the rally to hear what he had to say. They say they were kicked out, and told 47ABC they weren’t given a reason. Guadalupe Espinoza says “they were all staring at us and approached us and said you guys have to go – because someone took a picture of us – and they kicked us out”. Espinoza adds that they believe being Mexican had something to do with the decision.
No matter which side of the Trump spectrum people are on, with a presidential candidate on the Eastern Shore for the first time since Newt Gingrich was sure to draw a crowd. Donald Trump thought it was important for Delmarva to hear his message, and regardless of political affiliation, Delmarva wanted Trump to hear theirs.
