Del. legislators seek expanded social media use in SJR 10

Legislators say the increased use of social media can play a key role in keeping constituents informed moving forward.
Introduced last week, Senate Joint Resolution 10 encourages first state government employees to be more active online. It cites the effective social media presence of dozens of other state agencies. This resolution would also allow the Government Information Center train state communications personnel on social media and responsible use.
Laurel Representative Timothy Dukes told us the more people are informed and involved in the political process, the better.
“It’s so important to engage in social media so that people know exactly what’s going on, where you stand on issues. It can help to make a difference and can help people feel more comfortable with our legislature.”
This resolution is out of committee and Dukes tells us it will head to the full Senate very soon.
