Culver talks proposed budget

The proposed Wicomico County budget is here, although it still must go through the county council’s approval process.
47 ABC sat down with County Executive Bob Culver Friday, to discuss his budget.
Culver said among the things he’s proud of are no tax increases or new taxes for residents, a three percent salary increase for county employees, and funding for a new program with Wor-Wic community college that will help certain students go to school for free.
“The student coming out of a Wicomico County high school would be able to apply for different grants, different pell grants, different funding through different organizations, but if they were not able to pay enough to get all of their college education done then Wicomico County would step up,” Culver said.
Culver said the county has yet to schedule their meetings to work on his proposed budget.
However he said they have until June 15 to approve the budget for fiscal year 2017.
