Couple starts campaign to find kidney

The Salisbury Kidney Walk is just a few weeks away. Leading up to it, 47 ABC has been meeting folks planning to make the trek.

We met Caryn Klapholz on Tuesday. She is a kidney disease patient who is eagerly waiting for a kidney transplant.

Caryn says, “Probably judging off of what other people say, I would feel like a new person.”

Caryn is on waiting lists at two different Maryland hospitals. Right now, she’s having trouble walking because of her kidney issues. However, she’s hoping to make it to the walk if she can.

In the meantime, Caryn and her husband Arie, are continuing to ride around town with a magnetic sticker on the back of their truck. It expresses her need for a kidney.

So far they’ve received more than sixty responses and although they haven’t been able to get the right match for Caryn, they’re not giving up hope.

Arie says, “If we could have I would have really liked to have found several donors through our campaign. Karen would not have not only gotten a kidney, but maybe two, three, or four more other people.”

This years Salisbury Kidney walk is may fifteenth at Winterplace Park.
