Community speaks out after Hurlock man is shot dead

Over 24 hours have gone by since Floyd Cain of Hurlock, Md. was shot dead. Police have identified Brandon Milton as the suspect, but have not yet been able to track him down.

Saturday 47 ABC returned to the scene of the crime, to see how the community is coping with the loss.

Community members said they were upset over what they called another “senseless killing”, but they also want justice to be served.

“Be a man, turn yourself in, don’t run,” said Hope Smith, talking about Milton.

A sentiment that many echo in the community.

Hope said she believes that if Milton was man enough to shoot Cain, then he should be man enough to take the punishment.

Milton is facing first and second degree murder charges.

“I definitely want to see justice because Floyd Cain didn’t hurt nobody and mess up nobody he just did what he do, do his thing, whatever, he ain’t messin with nobody. So whoever done it, Brandon Milton, whoever he is, I hope they hurry up and get him,” Smith said.

According to police, Cain and Milton got into an argument. Cain then allegedly hit Milton with a wooden object, Milton responded by allegedly shooting Cain.

Neighbors said in cases like this, everyone suffers.

“It’s the families suffering from behind this senseless violence, you know, two black men that been knowing each other all their lives you know, the arguments could have been handled differently,” one neighbor said.

While the police continue to search for Milton, the community mourns the loss Cain. Someone who they said was loved in the community.

“That’s my baby, that’s my heart, I love him to death, I just can’t believe that he left me and I still cant cry, I still can’t cry yet, but Imma cry at the funeral, that’s when Imma let it all out,” Smith said.

Police said Milton was last seen leaving the scene Friday in a burgundy colored mustang.
They’re asking anyone with an idea as to where Milton may be to call in to the Easton Maryland State Police Barrack at (410) 822 – 3101 and ask for the homicide unit.
