Collective bargaining agreement reached at the Casino at Ocean Downs

Members of UNITE HERE Local 7, employees at the Casino at Ocean Downs, say they have come to a new collective bargaining agreement, which settles the labor dispute between the Casino and its servers, bartenders, slot attendants, cashiers, cleaners and cooks.

The new agreement, which was reportedly overwhelmingly approved by workers, includes wage increases of 3% each year on the workers’ anniversaries, and a significant increase in the Employer’s contribution to the employees’ Health Savings Accounts.

Also part of the deal was making the employees’ 30 minute unpaid meal break a paid meal break, and having Martin Luther King Jr. Day a paid holiday.

“I’m glad that we have come to an agreement with the Casino,” says Roxie Herbekian, President of UNITE HERE Local 7. ” We want to thank the many customers and community members who supported us.  Our members look forward to continuing to provide quality service to their regular and seasonal customers.”
