Coast Guard receives award for 100 years of service

The Ocean City Coastguard was honored Monday by the Delmarva Safety Association for 100 years of service.
Coast Guard officials say they act as the policemen, the firemen and the tow trucks out on the water. They add that their work would not be possible without the amazing partnerships they have with the Ocean City police department, fire department and the beach patrol.
47 ABC spoke with Coast Guard Master Chief Timaree Sparks about what they do on a day to day basis, and she says it’s non-stop work around the clock.
“We train, we train for our specialties, everyday we’re doing something. There’s not a day that goes by that we don’t move our boats so it’s just a fantastic place to be, Ocean City,” Sparks said.
Sparks added that receiving recognition from the whole entire Delmarva Safety Association on their service was a tremendous honor.
