City of Salisbury announces Shore Craft Beer Fest and Riverwalk Celebration

The City of Salisbury Mayor has announced a new event for the city. Mayor Jake Day says Salisbury has partnered with Shore Craft Beer and Delmarva Public Radio to present the 2016 Shore Craft Beer Fest and Riverwalk Celebration. The event is set for Saturday, June 18, in Downtown Salisbury.

Officials say the one-of-a-kind event will bring music, art, food, and the best craft beer on the peninsula to the City’s newly renovated Riverwalk. Shore Craft Beer was founded in 2014, in an attempt to make the Eastern Shore a craft beer destination, and focuses on all things locally-brewed. Micro and craft breweries from the area will serve only locally produced products during the event.

The festival will also reportedly feature food trucks, live music from the band Eastern Electric, a plein air painting event, pottery throwing, a home brewing tent, and specially brewed Salisbury hometown beer. Kicking off the brand new event, will be a ribbon cutting ceremony, introducing the brand newly renovated Salisbury Riverwalk. The Riverwalk has been in the process of being updated with $1.5 million in improvements, since the fall. The cosmetic and structural fixes to the 40-year-old pedestrian walkway are expected to be completed soon.

“Shore Craft Beer Fest is a great fit for Downtown Salisbury, and it presents the perfect opportunity for us to cut the ribbon on our beautiful new Riverwalk,” said Mayor Day.  “I’m excited to invite residents and visitors to come sample local craft brews and enjoy what we hope will become a summer family tradition in our Downtown.”

Organizers of the event are also looking for t-shirt design submissions. Designs apparently must focus primarily on the Riverwalk, but may incorporate the Shore Craft Beer Fest. If you’re artistically inclined, or if you know someone who is, original artwork is due no later than June 1. Submissions can be any medium, any size. Physical works may be mailed to the Mayor’s Office, or to submit your design electronically, email it to cdemone@salisbury.md.
