Central Holds Off Furious Rally By Spartans

The Sussex Central girls lacrosse team picked up a nice win Wednesday when they traveled to Lake Forest and pulled out a 7-5 win. The win improves the Golden Knights to 4-3, while the loss drops the Spartans to 7-3.

The Golden Knights would build a big lead early. A 2 RBI single from Hayley McCabe would give them a 5-0 lead in the 5th. Central would then make it 7-0 with another 2 RBI single in the 6th, this time from Brooke Stoeckel. The Golden Knights would get 2 quick outs in the bottom of the 7th, before the Spartans would mount a furious comeback. They would belt 6 consecutive doubles, plating 5 runs including a beautiful shot from Maya Maddox. Lake Forest would bring the trying run to the plate, but a fly out to right would end the game, giving Central the road win.

Lake Forest returns to action on Monday when they host Red Lion, while Lake Forest host Indian River on Thursday.
