Cause of Chance house fire under investigation

A house fire in Somerset County, remains under investigation, after causing a reported $180,000 in damages.

The Maryland Office of the State Fire Marshal says a passerby reported the flames just before 7:15 AM on Tuesday, at a three story home on Haines Point Road, in Chance.

Officials say 25 firefighters from the Deal Island Fire Department responded to the scene, and had the blaze under control in three hours. No injuries were reported. Damages are estimated at a total of $220,000. Investigators say they are still working to determine where the fire started, and just what caused it.
