Worcester County Humane Society is gearing up for their 17th annual Boardwalkin’ for Pets event. People and pets alike are invited to walk the boardwalk on Saturday April 23, 2016 starting at 9:00 AM, registration starts at 8:30 AM.

A Minimum donation of $25 per person is required, with prizes awarded for the highest pledge earners. There will also be contests and prizes for largest dog, smallest dog, best dressed dog, and best dog trick. Walkers can also look forward to refreshments courtesy of Harrison’s Harbor Watch Restaurant, and Layton’s Family Restaurant 16th Street.

If you don’t have a dog to walk for the event, you can even adopt a shelter dog just for the walk! Arrangements must be made in advance, so just contact the Worcester County Humane Society at 410-213-0146, for details on how to set that up.

The shelter will also be hosting a cutest cat award, so be sure to bring along a photo of your feline with your contact information written on the back.

“Last year was amazing with participants raising about $30,000,” says Boardwalkin’ for Pets Chair, Heather Bahrami.  “This year, the goal is $50,000 and I feel very confident we can do it.  The event is such a fun way to gather with friends and family to get outside and be active all while helping the animals at the shelter.”

If walking isn’t your thing, sponsorship are also available at three levels; $1,000 for “Leader of the Pack”, second level is $500 for “Member of the Pack”, and third level is $350 for “Fat Cat.” Sponsors will be featured on the back of the event t-shirt.

If you would like to be a sponsor for “Boardwalkin’ for Pets”, checks can be made payable to “Worcester County Humane Society”, note “BWFP Sponsor” on the check, and mail to the shelter at PO Box 48, Berlin, MD 21811 or contact  Heather Melson Bahrami, “Boardwalkin’ for Pets” Chair 2016, at 443-235-8557. If you are unable to sponsor the event but would like to contribute, the shelter says they are in need of gift certificates, gift baskets or other items from businesses for the silent auction.

For more information or to pre-register for the walk visit the event website or check out the Boardwalkin’ for Pets facebook page.
